Our History

Created in 2004, the leap program began as a way to supplement the traditional academic experience of a few youth in Los Angeles. We were frustrated by the lack of after-school programs available that intended to make a measurable improvement instead of simply providing day care. As a result we implemented the first program at the Alexander Science Center School in South Los Angeles.

These humble roots generated overwhelming support from parents, schools and communities alike. As positive word of mouth grew, leap grew with it. Over the past 12 years, leap has served hundreds of at-risk youth from some of the lowest performing schools in California and created measurable results in the process.

Currently, the after-school program operates at 3 under-served schools throughout Los Angeles, serving over 400 students daily and employing a passionate workforce of more than 25 professionals.

For the last five years, leap has delivered nutritious meals to over 35 after-school sites for free through the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
